Meet Mrs. Hensler
Hello Everyone! My name is Austen Hensler. This is my first year teaching at Delphi Community Elementary School. I have had a very busy 2014! Before graduating college my teaching experience began at Rensselaer Central Primary School. I was able to spend an entire year in the classroom. I completed my Student Teaching and then covered a semester long maternity leave in a First Grade High Ability classroom. In May, I graduated from St. Joseph's College with a degree in Elementary Education dual licensing in Exceptional Needs Education. This summer I married my best friend Zach Hensler. After a honeymoon to Jamaica and some relaxation, I am very excited to get started on a new school year here at DCES!
When I was in Elementary School I dreamed of traveling to Africa. My Junior year of college my wish finally came true! I was given the opportunity to study abroad through the St. Joseph's College Core Program. I traveled for 2 weeks in Ethiopia. I had a great experience. I am looking forward to returning to Ethiopia in the future.

Upon finishing my co-teaching experience, my cooperating teacher (along with a little help from our technology teacher Mr. Wynn) assisted our students in creating a "thank you" video. This video still brings tears to my eyes! I will cherish this video forever.

I grew up near Brookston, IN and graduated from Tri-County High School. I absolutely love animals (especially giraffes!) I have a dog named Rucker. He is a Miniature Golden-Doodle. I also love to read. My favorite books are children's picture books. My favorite author is Mo Willems.
I strive to see the creativity in all of my students. My students can expect the same from me. I will do my best to challenge all of my students and meet their various needs and ability levels. I will implement numerous projects, hands on activities, and place-based learning activities in our classroom.
